Mike,
There is good flow there. I meant to say the algae has no "flow" it doesn't move just kind of on the rock. I tried to blow it off with the baster and a brush and no go, it has to be scraped off. It just does not have the same feel and ease of removal as cyano would. Im gonna try to cut...
Just wanted to give a little update. Things were going well for a bit, then some problems struck.
First: I decided to add a bag of PhosGuard. Boy was that a mistake. I guess it pulled too much, too quick and I lost a few acros to RTN. There one night gone the next. Pulled the bag and since that...
Thanks guys. I was actually thinking about evaporating some off. Started the slow way, open containers and wait. Now I'll have to try fast way, or just make a new batch.
Just noticed something interesting. This algae is also only growing on one side of my tank and only in the front. I noticed this when I saw the sun shining through a skylight directly on the those areas. This area has been getting extra light from the sun for the last several days. This was poor...
Thanks guys. I checked out everything. Def not Dino's or diatoms.
I'm not ruling out cyano yet though. Only thing is that it's only on the rocks not on the sand bed that's in the same areas. And it doesn't brush off easily.
As far as a sponge goes I would think there would be more substance...
Here are a couple of pics this is on some of my rocks. Mostly on the lower areas of tank. Good flow in that area. MP-10 in a 20H. Should be adequate flow all around.
Here's the pics
ADD: when I touch it it is very smooth, not so much slimy, any very tight to the rock not really flowing
Well I mixed all the parts and realized instead of adding water to total 1 gal, I added 1 gal of water to each of the calcium and alk and 20oz of water to the mag. I essentially diluted the mixture to much, though not by much. Have I ruined this batch or can I go ahead and use it?
Im gonna give the vin a try this week. I was also thinking of that really fine sandpaper, the kind you use to polish glass. If I try this during a WC ten contact with the water is nil. But really I want to get a bigger tank anyway so well see. Thanks guys for the tips
I thought mabye scratches at first but does not seem so but I'll check again. As for the vinegar I could always try a bit during the water change as the top area is well above water line during that time. I could just try a small are each change. The bottem area is not to bad as most is below...
So finally I have gotten sick of looking at it so how do I clean it. It seems to be hard water staining on the top few and bottom few inches of the glass. I have tried razor blades but it does not do anything. To touch it feels a bit more rough then the rest of the glass. It was there when I got...
