Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
We had our clowns host our frogspawn so a torch is not a stretch. I would probably recommend frogspawn (or hammer), our torch coral is getting to big for out 20g and is constantly stinging things. We have to leave so much space around him it takes up too much room. Frogspawn can sting corals too...
Forgot to mention, if you look in the for sale thread, people on here will sell live rock and sand for a lot less than what stores sell them for. Generally you can get is for under 5 bucks a pound.
Welcome to the Dark Side, and yes it only gets darker. The good: Your salt choice is very good and most people on here use the same salt (including us). The Koralia 3 is a good pump but might be a bit much for your size tank and what you want to keep in there. We had two Koralia 2s on a 30...
We have two Aqua C Remoras and yes they take time to break in. It takes a good two to three weeks before they are ready to go and setting the height of the collection cup also will make a difference. My advice would be to start it low and work it up until you feel you have a good foam level. Did...
If you get a nice protein skimmer, you probably don't need the canister filter. We run sumpless systems and have been very happy with the Aqua C Remora HOB skimmer which would be fine for your size tank. I would go for T5s depending on the length of your tank. We have both MH and T5s and have...
You can look at a tube anem which prefers to be in the sand. All of our BTAs liked it better in the live rock where they can hide their foot in a cave. PM Blange, I know he has a sand dwelling anem.
Looks like a great stocking plan, you have fish that will live in all three levels of the water column which is nice. With that low of a bioload you could probably squeeze in one more fish.
What kind of corals are you keeping in there and what is the depth of the tank? Have you done any water tests to see what your calcium or any other levels are?
We live on the second floor in an apartment that is over a business. This essentially means that we cannot reinforce the floor at all so this has pretty much kept us in the nano range (nothing bigger than a 30). Of course this means we want a bigger tank and we just saw the deal that AO is...
Not sure where you live, we buy our RO water from Trop for fifty cents a gallon which is much cheaper than the distilled water you can buy at the supermarket.
We drove by the Marriott where the conference is going to be held and to say it is an impressive sight would be a massive understatement. The hotel complex is enormous and we talked about how nice it would be to see MACNA from the other side.
With MACNA and the wedding done we have no idea what...
Stopped in before we got married and the store is very nice even though it is not completely setup yet. Very impressive prices on everything in the store. I will be going back very soon, picked up some snails and a pistol shrimp.
Small disclaimer: I know Greg from elementary and high school but...
So this past Saturday Nicole (NikkiT) and I got married thereby establishing year 0. We are now down in Disney world enjoying 10 days down here. We will post some pics when we get home of their fish tanks in Epcot. Our camera died because it sucks, so there is not a ton but we got some cool...
That would be awesome if it came back another color but the tint is has now is green. The day after I added the mp10, the anem bubbled up huge and has been very happy. The power head was the only thing I changed at all it the tank but I don't know if it is more coincidence or causation.
Can you tell us about your tank? Size, lighting, whats in it, water parameters, how long has it been setup? Those things will help us answer your questions in general.
We had a bad heat event in the tank (lost air conditioning for 4 days while we were away and the apartment went to 88 degrees and the tanks 84-85. The anem bleached out, but is coloring up nicely. Right now it is wedged in the rocks and bubbled up more than I have ever seen it. We dose a bit of...
I was trying to be politically correct and not recommend tossing in a damsel to cycle the tank. I have not tried the raw shrimp method though I have heard about it so did not want to bring it up. That leaves the biospira method as a recommendation, and also it is a 24 hour cycle for those who...
