Phyl,
It Just seemed that way. Whenever the heater was on the water in the sump to need more and frequent top off. Time of year didn't matter. Maybe it was just perception. Thanks for the formula.

Paul,
I think it has to do with the people we obtained them from. I got mine from Bob and now have 5 from 1" to abot 2.5". You got your's from Bill. See the trend we obtained them from people who's name start with a 'B'.....lol
I was feeding mine weekly frozen krill and they split quickly. Now...
I have a 65 gallon standard tank for sale. It is not drilled or have overflows. The back is painted black. I picked this up on here for some turtles. Now they reside in my pond and don't need it anymore. I have no pics as I need to pick it up from PA. The tank/turtles were in my daughters PA apt.
I have evrythinhg thru Verizon an can't wait to ghet rid of them. Problem is all my phione have different dates because of changes and replaced phines etc and I think they will try and charge the early termination fee. Other problem is my family likes them because all their friends have them...
In my opinion I would go with T5 lighting. You can keep anything under them provided you have the right number of bulbs. T5 lighting has less heat issues compared to metal halide and the bulbs are cheaper. I also had halides on my 75 and it looked great. I went through several gallons of water...
Okay. I am convinced I need a heater based on the responses. How should I determine what size heater? My 300 watt caused much evaporation when it was on. I have a 75g DT with a 30g sump. Is it overall water volume, DT volume, sump?
Good point. I neglected the fact that some keep the tank or sump in the basement. I don't have a basement so the sump is under the tank in the stand. I plan to upgrade to 125 or 150 and was just wondering what others do. I already had an issue with a return pump in which the wire cassing slid...
Didn't want to hi-jack Old Salty's thread. But do we really need heaters for our tanks? Most post speak about the tank getting to hot in the summer and installing a chiller or other methods to bring the temp down. Wouldn't the pumps and house temp be enough to keep the tank at a fair temp? I...
I work for the comapny as Phil and there is no way that will fly. They also have staff come around and check to see if people posted their password under the keyboard, stapler, etc. Usually done in the early morning or after work; I use to do this. Nasty email is sent to your manager if you get...
1) I have had my fill of salt water siphoning.
2) Forgetting about the RO/DI and it overflowing(at least a dozen times). Thankfully I hook it up in the yard.
3) Unplugging the wrong plug leaving no water movement or skimmer action.
4) Mixing saltwater and the pump flips up spraying water out of...
I would think that some type of cycle will happen. Some of the live bcateria is in the crushed coral and not in the sand. What you proposed sounds like it will work to me. The only other thing I can think of is putting the sand in shallow containers inside the tank. Each time you take out the...
