Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I'd do it in a heartbeat! Obviously I'd take appropriate precautions but everyone knows your tank is fantastic (little tiny buggers notwithstanding).
Anyways - sorry to hear about all the work you've had to put into the tank (vs just enjoying it). I'm glad to hear it's under control and I look...
i could lend you my laMotte test kit if you want. I really like it. I'm in metuchen. Maybe I'm just not a chemist but following the salifert alk test kit gives me a headache.
send me a pm if you're in this neck of the woods for work or whatever.
or i guess if it can wait until the next meeting...
i would try and stabilize the tank - do not add anymore livestock. See if you can get the skimmer working, do a massive water change, then move on. As the tank stabilizes again - perhaps it's just for the best to keep only what you already have in there.
what are the water parameters?
it almost sounds like your tank crashed -
you list sps
you list an anemone (a hardy one at that)
you list sps
you list zoas
you listed a fish
Go back to the smaller tank- those were the good days!
i would think any old clip on fan would work. Just swing by one of the big box stores like wal-mart, target, S-mart (oh wait that last one is from a movie - never mind).
if you want to go all high-end - you could look into the variable speed ice-cap fans.
Thanks much to david (malulu) and family for hosting all the folks at your home. My kids appreciated the room and older "sitters" too. Your tank is beautiful and my wife couldn't stop talking about the maxima clam and those quirky eels in the sand.
Also my first time in the raffle and I won a...
I would say that in the wild tangs roam so far and so fast that it would take a really beaten down fish (while resting) to be infected.
In our tanks - they have no place to go (and a closed system)- and ich can multiple very quickly - making tangs appear to be more susceptible.
Hippos do seem...
The pic is just terrible...it's a wonder how people take care of fish like this!

It looks like someone took the fish out, cut off the dorsal fin, and threw the poor thing back in.
Thanks for sharing! You could use a 3rd party hosting sight like photobucket to store your pics and then post them in one single post. It's free and pretty easy to use...I just have to dig up the linke somewhere for you.
Thankfully I can always rely on going to AO/OGII/Smcooler's for fish/corals.
It's not just these retailers. In my company we upgraded the security of our delivery to BRINKS and even they drop-kick our stuff. Ugh the aggravation.
i think they are the same company that made the fake corals for that 4000 gallon tank on Monsterfishkeepers.
Before people claim it's too hard - just look at what harlequinreef maintains over at the Red Bank Hospital. Not that I would be able to do it- but if you have the money to buy that...
Not invasive pythons - but invasive parrots! (lol) - well I think it's funny though I guess con ed doesn't. read this over the weekend in the nytimes:

yep - talked about on all the reef boards - and also other pets/reptile/etc boards.
here's the last two threads I saw this on here:

and here...
Lol - are they the feeder comets? Those things can grow huge. At the Bronx Zoo in the Butterfly Conservatory- they have a small pond and I think those are all either fantail comets or just regular comets.
Hey if you use a net to catch them, I will certify the fish as "MAC-approved". ;) ;D...
