Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
in my opinion rock and cheato is all you need. Any "crud" that floats in can be siphoned up. If you have sand in there I don't know how you siphon anything. The folks with big sumps can afford a large sand bed with the bac needed to reduce nitrates. But in a small sump - the benefits are limited...
the MSX skimmers are very popular among a group over on reef central. I don't think that is because it is "better" than any of the skimmers mentioned previously (ATI, REEFLO, ATB) but more for the price point (i guess bang for the buck).
5 pounds is such a small quantity - I would imagine it's ok unless the stuff is festering with detritus. If so then i'd dump it. Honestly what is 5 pounds of sand worth - like $2? $5? I'd pass if I wasn't sure.
Why do you have 5 pounds of sand in your sump? Is that your "refugium"? or - a "Deep...
once you sign up and the application received by the officers - someone will process your acct and then you will be given access to all the member-only forums. The prices and types of inverts are all listed there.
One thing to keep in mind is if you are not available 2-26-2009 for pick up - you...
They will have the annual sale this year but I don't know (never knew) they had open bags of sand for sale. Probably because by the time I get there all the good stuff is gone! The place is a mad house if you've never been.
btw - i went to AqOb during the black friday sale and picked up 4 bags...
go into your paypal account and double check how you performed the transaction.
Did you send the money "instantly" from your bank account? If not then you used your credit card. You should call the credit card company used as a precaution (for all we know your corals get delivered) and have...
Fusion to me is the marriage of two distinct styles of food/presentation.
I personally would not consider anything inserted in a cornbread muffin as fusion. :P
This probably only interests me but...
Spectrum (aka Rayovac) really only recently came to become the owner of tetra. It was part of Warner Lambert's consumer division loooooooong ago before they were wholly acquired by Pfizer. Pfizer then spun off Tetra thru a LBO in 2003...then resold to...
saltwater4life - good to see you around again!
ageek - is this for the 12gallon nano? The clowns will eventually get pretty territorial so I'm not sure i'd add any thing else. Maybe something for the lower "zone" like a goby of some kind would probably be just fine.
ham - good to know. Thanks for sharing.
rgarofalo - i never call pfo - i emailed them maybe 3 times about different topics (new leg stands, transferring warranty, getting a manual). PFO - specifically Carla - responded immediately for me.
i was under the impression check valves are notorious for failing...
The hole in the return line is interesting but i'd be concerned about a blockage (salt creep).
Overall I don't know if any "single" solution is as fool-proof as having enough room in the sump to handle any siphon that might...
with group buys typically the vendor delivers to ONE place - in this case I believe it is flemington, nj.
Some folks who are able to - will go there to get their orders.
For this specific group buy, the manager has volunteered his time to help drive the orders to four destinations in NJ. You...
At that size tank - I would consider increasing the frequency of water changes. Even if you did add phosban - is there a place you can DIY a HOB set up? or are you going to get a TLF reactor? I just think a reactor on a 14G seems like overkill.
