I think...emphasis on *THINK* you are in zone 3....
you may need a calc reactor...
I'm in the same boat you are right now (in the sense that I own a kalk reactor but not a calc reactor)...so am curious to see how this thread concludes...
My wife and I are considering this one...although my yard is mess and full of tree roots so that'd have to get done first (to get the ground level).

Considering the price - the only the downside in my opinion is putting the thing together.
the kalk reactor may be causing the alk to fluctuate...thereby affecting calc...

bb would be ideal. sand only if a fish/invert required it...and then i'd discard the sand after use. Obviously a heater is needed and I like using one of those ammonia-alert things...they are like $2 or something but easy to read and see if something is askew.
While it would work and I have read about it done previously - I just don't like the idea of something that is from my fish tank going into a piece of equipment I use for cooking (albeit these days just popcorn). How are you explaining this to the rents?

you have to update your sig now to reflect the new 250mhs... ;)

Almost any LFS or online retailer has it. I personally found the frozen sticks a little bit more messy. Whereas the freeze dried stuff just needs to soak a bit in water first and then dose (or use a turkey baster for more direct feeding).
