Measure phosphate, .56. So it has gone up greatly. There is no fish. I fed the tank coral snow. Will stop doing that. Coral are happy. Any ideas on nutrient export?
Plan on moving, broke down tanks. Setting up a 10 gallon nano for some tank separation anxiety relief!
The tank is a standard IM Nuevo 10. Nothing fancy. Stock 18w LED (we will say how that goes). Eheim 600 return pump. Eheim full-size ATO (manage to get one one the float switch into the return...
Throughout my reef keeping career I have always changed things around. I look at the aquariums I like and try to come up with my version of it. When I am done I move on to the next project. Think about what you like to do and make it a project both your son and you will joy. BTW it's great your...
Did you just take GFO offline? It takes a while. I would measure every few days and see. You might need to dose phosphate if it continue to be low. But take it slow.
I would say if you can drink from it more than likely it’s safe for the tank. Think about diluting 5ml of residual Arizona ice tea in a big tank of salt water.
I use a different vinegar/vodka ratio. There is really no scientific proof which is better than the other. Just make sure you remember the ratio you have used. My understanding is that vinegar is easier for the bacteria to use so it is consumed quicker, hence the mixing. But I might be wrong.
Take the GFO offline you will see the nitrate level slowly comes down. You should see some white bacteria film growing on the underside of rocks if it’s working. Skimmer production will increase. this takes time initially so need to be patient.
You will need to dose a little phosphate otherwise carbon dosing won’t work. Do you run GFO? If so then take that offline. The key is to get into a balanced situation. Also unless nitrate is over 20ppm I will not worry too much.
Many have used it to great success. Easy to use. Highly recommended. Make sure you can measure phosphate and nitrate levels until everything stabilize.
When it comes to the price of scientific instrument, sky is the limit. After years of reefing, I realized measuring too much can be detrimental. Everything is not just a number.
Received fish in the mail. Put into container to acclimate. Came back 15 minutes to check. Couldn't find fish in the container. Found fish on the concrete floor. Dried and covered in dust. Curse. Threw fish back into container. Fish came back to life a few minutes later. Put fish in tank. Fish...
