    Have you seen this before?

The kenya tree I have breaks off all the time but I have not heard people having toadstool split like that. It closed up for a week then one piece starting to separate.

    Have you seen this before?

In the first pic the toadstool is dropping a baby. In the second pic the hammer extends so much half of it looks like a torch.

CopperBand went to buy one they wouldn't eat

I have mine for a year and half now and I mail ordered it online. Ate from day one and really fattened up with feeds of blackworms. I just got lucky. Many people bought ones eating in store but stopped eating at home. So I think the extra transfer may have done them in. But since I only have one...

    Major break down

If your tank is big enough I suggest trying a copperband or filefish. You can nuke the tank now but pests always got introduced with live rocks and livestocks. Aiptasia is not the worst. I have a lot in the refugium but none in the display tank. I have a CBB for almost two years now it took care...

I might be loosing the whole tank tonight

Paul sorry to hear. Yours is one of the long running successful tank out there. I recall you had a call overdose so this maybe triggered by that. I have a couple of 20g tanks if you need to hold the survivors while you clean out the tank. We'll help you restock when you're ready. I would clean...

    Bubble Algae is the devil!

I have battled bubble algae since I have my first reef tank. So I have some experience in this. First of all you will not be able to control bubble algae thru nutrient control. If you pin you hope on any nutrient export method it will not work. Bubble algae will out-compete your corals for...

SPS turning white ,, don't know why?

Unfortunately parameters is not everything otherwise we would all have the perfect tank. What works for one does not work for another. I noticed your Phosphate is zero. What fish and how much do you feed? What method do you use for nutrient export? The hammers do not look too happy either so...

    Kalk vs Auto Doser

pH is a function of Co2 and Alkalinity. Reducing Co2 (opening windows for example) will increase pH. 8.1 is nothing to worry about. Mine ranges 8.0 - 8.4 during the day. Alk @7.8 is good. NSW is around 7.0. Lighting, nutrient and alk need to work together. Higher alk level reduces the margin of...

    Sand from the Carribean

Very interesting. You're sure no other factor has changed right? I would think the sand is full of bacteria which helps breaking down the detritus. But I didn't think it could make such a significant impact. On the other hand the sand at the beach is not clumped together even these areas no...
