    29gallon newbie

Hindsight being 20/20 and all, I'd HIGHLY recommend automating your lighting process. timers are about $7 at the home depot or lowes and do a great job of not only keeping things consistent, but also avoiding these types of issues. Sorry to hear of your losses. At least the fish made it, though!

    Questions that bother me so

I believe you want the hole submersed until your water turns off, and then it breaks the siphon when the water level gets down just a bit. I could be wrong, though...I don't use a hole like that...

    algae problem please help!!!!

It seems to me that any drastic change in this hobby just takes time to work itself out. You went from basically a dark tank to a brightly lit tank. It's going to take a little while for your tank to work itself out. Basically, trying to keep the nutrient intake down will help, as will...

    Nassarius snails ??

I would say probably not. Or at least, it's probably not a good idea to get a sand burrowing animal and have no sand for it.

    Nassarius snails ??

I don't think you need a DSB, exactly. They do burrow into the sand and hide there with their little...tentacle...nose-like thing sticking out. But a few inches of sand should suffice.

    Flow in a 37 G SPS tank.

I think there are a lot of variables to take into account when talking about flow. Tank dimensions, flow direction and especially rock formations that may block/alter the flow. I have a 29g with a MJ1200 (295GPH) on my fuge and a closed loop system with an 800 GPH pump on it, and I wish I had...

I think it's time to add some coral to that tank. It looks so empty. ;)

Asterina Stars - I would like some

Hey Mynd, You know there's a good chance you already have some and you just haven't seen them yet. It took about 7 months for me to start seeing them...now I've noticed 5 or 6 already.

Funny you mention it, but I tried to reposition my BTA, which apparently was lodged in between 2 rocks, and when I moved a rock he ripped in half. Now I have two again. Those things are hardy as heck!

    Huge Reef in Red Bank

When I took my dog there it was because they had an oncology dept. I think her surgery took two 15 minutes visits and then an hour or two surgery and cost us $6k. That place makes money like nobody's business...they can afford the tank, me thinks.

    In the wall 265 Perfecto

I guess I stand corrected. I've never seen an outlet upside down like that, regardless of commercial or residential application...but that may be from lack of looking. Of course, I was pretty much just kidding around the whole thing anyhow...the installation looks great! PS - I was also kidding...

    In the wall 265 Perfecto

Looks good! That last outlet is upside down, though. Oh, and that truck needs a coat of wax, me thinks. ;D

    Huge Reef in Red Bank

When my dog was being treated for cancer, I spent HOURS staring at that tank. Love it. That tank taught me how much swimming space 'Dora' really needs. Those hippos swim circles around the entire tank for the entire day. Can't see how they'd be happy in one of our little boxes.

Yes, it is xenia. Initially I put a small rock with the xenia on it over in the front corner of the glass and it grew off the rock onto the glass, and then the rock, while still covered in xenia was also covered in algae, so I tossed the rock and just let it grow on the glass. I did a MAJOR...
