Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Personally, I like to do things as 'natural' as possible. The only additives I ever use is to keep calcium up and some carbon every now and again.
So far, it's worked well...just takes longer. My hair algae battle was probably 5-6 months...but in the end my flow and my life are pretty much the...
My well water is super hard.
Recently I bought a TDS meter and it registered about ~300 before my ro/di.
After the ro/di, always 0, and that with a cheap filtersdirect ro/di unit.
The only issues with the well water (for me) is:
1. It comes out COLD, which makes the ro/di work slower
2. It...
Until your tank looks like this, there's really no reason to give up:
I have a sea hare. He didn't do ANYTHING for my hair algae. He's a great inhabitant, though, and spends most of his day kissing the glass.
I have a urchin, who also spends most of his time on the glass. He's not been very...
In my 29g I feed my fish ~2 quarter sized flakes of food every few days.
I don't really filter except for the rock and the chaeto in my HOB fuge.
If your phosphates are that high and you are using good ro/di water, I'd definitely cut back on the feeding.
29g FTW! ;)
Re: Eagle Reef
I used to buy my ro/di salt water from that guy until he started getting really sporadic with his shop hours. I'd show up and the sign would say he should be open...but he wouldn't be.
It sure was a nice place to walk around...he made some beautiful tanks!
OK... I found the Anemone it moved... BUT It killed something with a coral-like skeleton in it's path. The water is cloudy.
Thanks for the help!
Damon is unreachable at the moment. I just wanted to make sure nothing needed to get done urgently.
Hi All,
This is Damon's wife. He's been away on business, and is due to arrive home in 5 hours. Sometime between yesterday and today his anemone died, it's just a skeleton. I have NO knowledge of his hobby, but I do know that a dead creature in the tank could be bad news. What should I do...
My clowns were pretty happy in their frogspawn when i first got my BTA. I used my hand to chase them towards the bta and after about 15 minutes they dived right in.
Maybe not the most humane way, but it worked. ;)
Another by the same character: "Well, crying isn't gonna bring him back ... unless your tears smell like dog food. So you can either sit there crying and eating can after can of dog food until your tears smell enough like dog food to make your dog come back or you can go out there and find your...
Man...I knew it was something like that. That's always my problem...heading in the wrong direction. If only I didn't already pay that drummer to help me march to my own beat. :(
Ha. Ok, the how many fish can you spot post from october got messed up somehow when i edited my photo album. it was a full size picture of the tank, but you couldn't really see the scooter without looking very hard. There were 6 fish, now 5. 2 clowns, 2 chromies, scooter. ;)
I like how I post a...
Re: Another year, sharing my tank's progression with all you guys! (pic intensiv
Oh, I'm familiar with that...just haven't heard of it with xenia. It's practically a seaweed. ;)
Re: Another year, sharing my tank's progression with all you guys! (pic intensiv
Why would the xenia be negatively effecting the rest of the tank? Xenia seems pretty harmless to me, especially when isolated like you have it, and can even be very useful for nutrient export.
Just curious as to...
