The sohal is a pretty bad choice no other way to say it. It is too big and too aggressive. In a 72G the tang police will be out in force. With the smaller ones you would be better off. So my suggestion is to try to sell the sohal or if you are unwilling to do that then don't put the hippo back...

Yes I just suggested using the filterbag you have there already. You can do whatever you like in this case I don't really think there is a huge difference. The one thing is you want to make sure you clean that filterbag really regularly.

You might be able to get the bulbs a bit cheaper, you don't need the max quality bulbs at this point. tfjpetcenter.com sells the sunlight brand and they have some 48in bulbs for 16-17 bucks?

The list that vangvace is a great link. 101 Saltwater Fishes also has some various combinations of fish that isn't to bad. I know you didn't want to change your lights but my suggestion sort of is that T5 lights will be a lot cooler(temp wise) then CP. That is good for little kids less likely...

Looks good. Question...really nitpicking was checking out the lights and they saw 21W for 36 inch T5 but shouldn't T5 be 39W?  I completely understand it is FO so who really cares but I am just curious. I got this one for my fresh water tank. They make SW too...

Looks like you have the mini fuge setup pretty well. What I would do is just add the phos+silicate remover in the filter pocket. You need to make sure you change the filter on a very regular basis.....you could probably get away with cleaning it one week and throwing it out after the second...

I do the same I flip the mat of it over say weekly. I usually give some away every couple of weeks.

Yes you can run it in a media bag every little bit helps. I don't like chemicals added but media that removes stuff is sort the reverse.

Second this. Use this months group buy to get a less expensive yet good quality RO/DI unit. Your flow is enough. Cut the feedings a little bit. If you have a place to run some phos+silicate removal medium do that too. Don't add chemicals to your tank if you can help it. Better to do the right...
