    Bubble tip anemone trouble

Magic, do I understand you correctly? You chiseled off a piece of LR underneath the anenome? That is genious if it can be done underwater with a small tool in one hand. I am going to try that this weekend.

    Bubble tip anemone trouble

I appriciate the advice, but the situation is complicated. I can't move the rock they have chosen (it very large) without toppling my reef. Unfotunatly, I do also have a large maroon clown that gets very aggressive whit me. I never thought I'd be afraid of a little clown fish. I will make...

    Remove Hair Algae From Rock

Jenn, I had a nasty hair algea attack that was completely eliminated by the addition of one lawn mower blenny. I was schocked by his tenacity and efficiency. Just something to consider. He is still a member of the reef now a full year later. Although his bulging belly is gone. Good luck.

    Bubble tip anemone trouble

Rafal, I bought it as a Entacmaea quadricolor. It (well, they now) is basically a cream color. Phil, thanks for the info. I will search for that post. My intention is two part. I want to figure out how to remove them and then give them away.

    Bubble tip anemone trouble

Well I started out with one nice sized anemone that eventually grew into a large problem (my clowns would argue that point). I have reluctantly tolerated its ever expanding body for some time now. Just recently it decided to split, doubling my problem. I was "playing" in the tank tonight and...

    Nudibranche RIP

Make sure he is actually dead. Mine has survived more in 4 months than any animal should have to endure in a lifetime. He has been stuck to my VorTechs twice, he has been into my sump at least 3 times and has gone missing for weeks on end. They are tougher than I ever imagined.

    Ever expanding bubble tip anemone

Alright.......I didn't mean to start the "clone wars" with my question, but thank you all for the information. Clearly anemone reproduction is a topic better left to the professionals or at least to those with more spare time and debate experience then me. So in summation, I can expect it to get...

Thanks John, that's what I needed to know. What do you think, $20 per stem on eBay?

Very exciting Rich. Can't wait to help spend your money. Is that what you will look like when the move is completed?

    Green bubble algae

I bought some live rock that came with the extra bonus of a bubble algae infestation. It was loaded with it. I was able to eliminate almost all of it in a few months by adding 5 emerald crabs to the tank. They come out at night so I never really see them eating it, but they definitely did the...

ID and Friend or Foe determination

Me again..... I have noticed the growth of what seems to be some type of hard algea in one particular location over the last couple of months. They are clearly growing and spreading. I have started to notice a few in other random locations now as well. They are kind of cool looking, but as with...

    Ever expanding bubble tip anemone

Hello all.....I have had a bubble tip anemone in my 225 for about 6 months. I feed him chunks of squid every 10 days or so. He is hosting a mated pair of Gold Stripe Maroon Clowns and is clearly happy with his location. All seems well right? Well not for much longer at this rate. He has doubled...

Yellow Tang with a Purple Tang

I have a large yellow tang in my 225 and I would really like to add a purple tang. I realize that because they are conspecies this is often a problem. I just wanted some feedback from others. My yellow is not very aggresive, but then again he is the largest fish in the tank. Thanks!

    Hair Algae

So I finally have my system officially up and running. All is doing pretty well, but I have been battling hair algae for a few weeks. I read that raising Magnesium levels can be very effective so I gave it a try. Yes, it does seem to have an effect, but it is not a complete solution. Although...

    ID Help Please

I am new to the hobby and I don't know my corals and inverts at all. Anyway, I picked up over two hundred pounds of rock from people breaking down their tanks over the last couple of weeks. Below are the items in question. I know that there are Aptasia in some of the pictures and I am working on...

    Emerald Crab behavior

The two that I have noticed doing it are definitely female. It is easy to tell with crabs. Maybe it is eggs.

    Emerald Crab behavior

I just put a few Emerald Crabs in my tank to help with bubble algea. They are on the bottom of the tank with the belly of their shells open and are picking at the "contents" as if there were eating something. Has anyone ever seen this before?

    Skimmer help

Yup, it's cured. So that sounds normal not to have any waste yet? I'll have to work on getting some poop in the tank so I have something to clean! ;)

    Skimmer help

I have my skimmer up and running for the 1st time. By the way, this is my first experience with a protein skimmer. I have an ASM G4X. I completed a gate valve modification so that I can fine tune the flow. Anyway, after 3 days with 100 lbs of live rock in the system, I have very little in the...
