120 gallon upgrade

My sump is out for delivery today so hopefully it fits in the stand, might have over done it but we will see. I ordered the adjustable overflow kits for the tank but may swap all the bulkheads out as the kits come with barbed ends rather than slip. Also ordered all new rodi cartridges, 200 gallon bucket of tropic marin salt and about 80lbs of special grade sand. Not sure if this will be enough sand but I want a very thin layer so I think it'll be fine. Now to figure out the return pump. I have a jebao dc one now and I honestly really like it. May order another one but not sure what size to go with. When ordering a return pump do I try to match my overflow gph? It's DC so if it's too much I can always turn it down. I'm thinking overpowered because I'm leaning towards plumbing in a manifold and I can always turn it up later if I need more flow. In my head which could very well be wrong I feel I'd rather have too much and not need it than not enough and need it. Am I right or wrong lol? Overflow is rated 1200gph and pump is rated 1450 gph for reference.

80 pounds will be more than enough it gives you a nice thick samdbed I actually have another bag of live Sand I thought I was going to use but it would be too much. I may just put that sand in my Refugium

That looks like more than enough for my liking thanks for sharing. I ended up grabbing the 40lb bags that you suggested so thanks for the heads up.

Ordered some blue 4 inch filter cups and I'll be ditching the 3 4 inch filter socks the sump came with if anybody is in need.

Yes that's what I use now as well. I change it every weekend on water change day. Much easier and quicker than dealing with cleaning socks.

Yeah I did the sock thing for a very short time. They clog very fast. Now I only use a sponge before my pump. Nothing else.

I'm considering running 2 smaller return pumps rather than 1 large pump. I'm thinking I can run 1 dedicated through my uv sterilizer that I can adjust flow depending on my needs for the uv. Then the 2nd pump I'll run a manifold off of for if I decide to add any other equipment. Also considering a neptune flow sensor on each return to manage the proper flow for my needs.

Here’s a few
