Poseidon/Velocity T4 for the pump noise. I had an Iwacki and it was much louder than the Poseidon. Switch to flex to connect to the pump, for at least the first 3 inches going into and out of the pump. I don't have carpet on the bottom of my tank, but I do have insulation that I bought at HD. I...
john, I'll be bacK saturday morning. I'll let you known on monday what's up. If one of those frags don't make it I have several LARGE (4-6" frags that I would be willing to sell/trade/frag to smaller size for you. I'll drop you a line when I get back.
I went out and bought a dremel today and did surgery on the cap. I now have a significantly smaller colony (it was 15 inches in diameter and is now about 6 or 7) along with several smaller frags. Hopefully they'll all be alive when I get back next week. If everything is doing well I'll have a...
I came home yesterday to find my 12" round monti cap partially deccimated by brown jelly. What I thought had been a patch of sand in the middle of it in the morning obviously was not.
Everything that I've read says to frag it down as far as I can, but I'm not sure how to do it with this thing...
Wow! Thanks everyone. I've been very busy at both jobs and haven't had time to even browse by here lately. This is definitely a much needed pick-me up. It's amazing how much older 46 sounds than 45!
Science fair project - put the same fish in a 4' tank and see what happens :)
Really weird. I'm going to feed the far right side of my tank for a month and see what happens. I guess if they're all happy I probably shouldn't worry about it, but I have to have something to worry about!
Merv- the obvious is always the last place I look - The rocks were just rearranged to add my group buy rocks, but I do feed in the middle of the tank and the current moves to the left....
I'll try feeding on the other side and see if I can get them to spread out some.
I have a 6-foot 150 gallon tank that is inhabited by a YT, a PBT, a flame hawk, one green chromis, a bicolor angel and a GSM. They all live in the left 75% of my tank. They seldom go past the 75% line - almost like there's a wall there. I always add new fish to the right side of the tank, hoping...
Carlo,
Can't you use hyposalinity instead of the transferring back and forth to rid the ich? I hypo all of my new fish purchases for 3 weeks (5 weeks total - 1 week to bring the salinity down, 3 weeks at hypo and 1 week to bring the salinity up). It's my understanding that you could technically...
Thanks so much for hosting this month. I love all of your zoos! The pink one I took home is already open and sitting beautifully in the front. Hopefully they'll spread as fast as they do in yours!
Re: APRIL Meeting: Sunday April 22nd in Washington, NJ
I'll be there around 4 - and bringing my soccer playing teen with me (he's a reluctant attendee :( )
Re: APRIL Meeting: Sunday April 22nd in Washington, NJ
Yea!! for Sunday. I'm in. Have to drop the hubby off at a friend's house down the street in the afternoon, so I'll only be at the afternoon meeting.
Just got home from work. Sounds like I missed a great time! Glad I could make it for the little while that I did. Thank you soo much for opening your home to all of us!
After adding my group buy rock and removing the coral-eating raccoon -- I'm going to start adding back soft corals. I with an anemone for my GSM and my beloved frogspawn.
Someone HELP! how do I add the image from the gallery......
Edit:
Fixed link for image. (don't copy and paste the...
Jamesurq did a huge sand trade two years running. He collected sand from all over the country, kept in in a 100 gallon tub for a few months, fed it, cared for it, etc and then sent it back. I participated twice and received fantastic stuff.
Search RC for sand swap to see how it was done. He's...
