Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
To tired to imbed mine right now but here is a link to my picasa album. I'm quite fond of my clownfish chasing the "bubble" (this years tree has a strange branch that sticks out, was the perfect spot) and my new somewhat cheesy jellyfish & crab... the rest are all gifts, my mom the cat lover...
(wasn't sure if this should go under inverts or fish, please move as you see fit mods)
I'd love some input on this situation, and to know if it's going to end badly.
I have a Randall's pistol shrimp in my 24g aquapod, he was added as a tiny little guy and has gotten some good size on himself...
Checking in, today is the big day right? Let us know if you need any tips or pointers on the initial setup. If you want to avoid a sandstorm add your water in slowly either pumping it into the rear chambers and letting it flow out slowly through the grills, or you can pour it in over a plate or...
With the exception of a couple fish from AO and a couple from fellow reefers all my fish are from Michael/nyaquatic, he used to offer UPS ground shipping to us in NJ which would run only around $10-$15 max but now only uses fedex priority overnight (still not to bad around $20-25 I believe)...
No huge updates, water is nice and clear, fuge seems to be working well. I added some zoas and rics to the tank from my other tanks and am picking up four different types of zoas from Rob in about 1/2 an hour :D Still need to either just suck it up and pay shipping and order a barnacle online or...
flame angels are beautiful, but very hit or miss with the nasty habit of eating corals... I'd stay away, you'd hate to become attached to your beautiful corals only to have the fish eat them... become attached to the fish and have it eat your corals. A damsel is another pretty but risky choice...
I'll let others chime in on the supplies. Yes, you'll likely need a "nemo" LOL other colorful fish might include a purple firefish (probably my favorite nano fish) and the color would play nicely off the orange in the clown, a royal gramma is another very pretty choice (purple & yellow/orange)...
Welcome Ron (and your little girl). I hope that both you and your daughter enjoy the tank you're setting up and also can't wait to see how it progresses along. Once you're cycled and settled and ready to start adding corals let me know, I have at least a couple I can frag for you guys (free of...
Some sort of puffer, love their eyes and puppy dog like personalities. I had a marine green spotted in my very sparse reef who only harassed snails, tried a hawaiian spotted after he jumped but she was eating the fins/tail off my black clown. Someday I'll have a large FOWLR for one.
Love them all! I had mine done in my early 20's (which was about 10 yrs ago) sadly lower back tats were "all the rage" so you can guess what I have LOL mine is sort of tribalish finishing with sort of a heart... tad bit cheesy now but I still like it. I've been wanting to get a small green...
Today's Lesson: You can build a tube for a fish, but you can't necessarily make the fish go in the tube.
Today was the big swap out, fresh LR & sand out of the biocube and into the 5g hex and my fish and their sand/LR (originally from my 70g sump) into the biocube. I had everything planned out...
pull the frag immediately is what I'm saying, if you have a separate tank you could try increasing magnesium which some people say works, you could try getting a lettuce nudi, what I would do would be just frag the frag (ie get the zoas, or as many as you can, off the rock and glue them onto a...
Looking great, love the zoa variety! If that is bryposis (sp?) and it looks like it is, GET IT OUT NOW!!! If you have a QT put it in there until you have a solution, otherwise see if you can find someone who understands what it is and wants the risk, or break it up and frag the zoas off... you...
Pending on what type of rock you have (ie this works perfect with marco rocks but won't work well with heavier solid rocks) you can use zipties to hold rocks together too!
Thanks! Tested reef safe I'm sure right? ;) He hasn't made it yet but assuming he still does let me see how the fit is on the pvc and then let you know, probably could use one.
Couple updates:
Increasing water level in chambers 2 & 3 has been done, and it was so easy. I had pm'd a couple people on RC who mentioned the fuge mod and asked for recommendations on how to trim the panel... both said a dremel wasn't the best idea as it seemed to melt the plastic more then...
I got mine from sealifeinc.net, she's gorgeous... very yellow head and lovely pearly w/blue highlights body. $12 (of course you have shipping... but if you get some rics or something too it works out not to bad) but hopefully you can find a pretty colored one locally!
I suppose you could use those hamster tubes, usually colored but still clear... I'd wonder though if the fish would feel to out in the open if you could see in and then decide to try and build a house elsewhere in the tank? Neat idea though!
Did you see the thread I got the idea from? http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=172053&st=0 $100 carpet surfer would be bad, but look how cute the fish is in the tube... time to make a simple tank cover!
