    Candi's 8g biocube adventure

Thanks for the post. I feel silly doing it in a way, but at the same time what if it is a bad guy (was reading about them on RC and many people who get the TBS packages get them, that's FL rock not far from where mine came from I believe) so better safe then sorry right. Like you said it's a...

    Candi's 8g biocube adventure

I think I've talked myself into the redo. Though rationally I'm pretty sure anything I saw isn't harmful what if it is, these are small fish and it's not worth the chance to me. So this weekend I'll grab a rubbermaid and drain the biocube into it, pull the rock and sand (darnit just bought that...

    Candi's 8g biocube adventure

Self doubt & second guessing.... So my plan up until tonight has been to keep my fish in the 5g until this new tank cycles and I feel relatively confident no bad hitch hikers are around. Now I'm not so sure... In typical reefer fashion I've been staring into the tank even though there is not...

    Candi's 8g biocube adventure

Deciding where to get the LR from for this tank was an issue. I swore after previous issues in my other tanks that I would never again use anything other then dry rock (ie marco rocks), as I wanted to keep any bad algae, critters, etc out. However all I had left from stocking my 70g with marco...

    Candi's 8g biocube adventure

Setting up: First order of business after removing the grates, putting in the heater, & swapping out the pump was getting the fuge light assembled and installed. I opted for a pvc grate cover (with the grating removed) and a cap that fit over the back of it for the light to sit in, we didn't...

    Candi's 8g biocube adventure

I was terrible about documenting the setup and development of both my 24g aquapod and my 70g oceanic so I'm going to make sure to do it with this tank! I've been wanting another tank for some time and knew this was about the max size I had any room for. I had been putting it off until my fish...

    anyone with a biocube 8g & 2nd chamber fuge?

I'm setting up a biocube 8g (thread coming soon, been taking photos), I am doing the fuge "mod" (putting cheato where the bioballs came, scraped off the back wall and using the little round 9wt pc light from lowes) anyways I read a few references to "flooding rear chambers" and "increasing flow"...

I'd like to buy a dremel, recommendations?

Thanks guys! The 400 was out of my price range and I also read reviews that the newest models weren't up to the quality of the older ones. I ended up going to Lowes today and picked up a 300 (came with a little table thing which might come in handy at some point and since it was on clearance it...

I'd like to buy a dremel, recommendations?

I could use a dremel for some little projects around the house, things on the tanks, crafts... nothing "major" and would love any recommendations, I was looking at a few different kits on amazon and really have no idea, is the 300 series a good one for basic needs? Thanks!

R/O ..... TDS and hair algae.

Everyone else is offering great help with the algae so I just wanted to add that for a RODI you don't need to have it hooked up all the time, I bought a faucet adapter for mine... I keep the unit under the sink in the kitchen and just pull it out when I make water once a week... Walmart has...

    using used live sand

unless its been heated/aerated the whole time I would RINSE RINSE RINSE, then rinse some more. Get a tub and do a few lbs at a time... drain as much water as possible before putting in your new tank, plan for a cycle (I'd imagine).

    My shrinking Ricordia

This happened to my orange rics, in 2+ years one had grown to several on a rock they shared with a couple different colors (blues/greens)in my aquapod... over the past say 4 months or so they got smaller and smaller until they are all but gone, managed to get one off and put it in my 70g but it...

HUGE power outage in Monmouth County

Port Monmouth here, about 5 mins from MikeM.... power came back on about 25mins ago for us. Was out for almost 2 hours. No generator so I just got out my battery back up air pumps (was glad they had a charge still) and crossed my fingers. Was surprised how quickly I was losing temps in the...

Not loving the color on my new Nova Extreme Pro, bulb recommendations

I openly admit to being completely lost when it comes to bulbs, so I'm hopeful someone here can lead me in the right direction while I fit in reading up more on my own too. I have a 24g aquapod with stock lighting and was running a current orbit on my 70g, both had the same type of bulbs a...

Replacing LS & Breaking Up LR

How deep is it and how long has it been there, those are two important things to consider before trying to remove it (and possibly stirring up god knows what that's settled down inside) Several months ago I changed out the sand in my tank, however it's only a 70g and I only had a couple inches...

Aqua C Remora HOB skimmer leaking, not sure what to use to fix

Thanks to those who suggested the Weldon 16, I spoke to Aqua C today and they confirmed that it's what they use in building them even, so I should be good as new once I buy a tube :)

    Toadstool Frag?

Definitely do it outside of the tank, even then be careful pending the size of the one you're cutting up in relation to water volume. I used to have a ton of different zoas in my 24g aquapod, after fragging my huge leather (in the tank, oops) and letting them grow out I lost ALL zoas in the...

    Toadstool problem. Crabs ok?

When we moved to NJ from MI my original was so stressed it didn't open for well over a month, I was sure I was going to lose it, however it never got "mushy" so everyone told me to leave it be. Eventually it opened up again and went crazy from then out (growing).

I need just a little ressuarnce

yep that's my problem (who would have thought I'd ever be calling a "fancy" coral a problem) my frags had grown attached to some rocks on the sides, when I removed them before posting for sale some flesh remained, it's now growing new toadstools... they seem to LOVE my aquapod for some reason...
