Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.

Definitively not cristata ...
Is your tank glass or acrylic? Plastic center brace has a lightly different role on those two types of tanks, but is crytical in each case, and removng it in eaither case would be a bad decission IMHO. Wouldn't it be better if you moved your light? How many MH lights do you have and how many...
There was an interesting article recently, in Wall Street Journal, arguing precisely that point, and, as a consequence to such policies, dooming WalMart in the long run as well.
The SCWD MUST reduce the flow significantly, that is how they work. My understanding is that 50% flow reduction is a norm (from what I have seen on the web).
I might have done couple of things:

Here is a nice article about fish sleeping:
http://www.amonline.net.au/fishes/faq/sleep.htm
In a nutshell, it all depends on how do you define a sleep. If it is defied as altered state of concience (brain wave pattern) then they don't, if it is defined as physical and metabolical resting then...
