Not sure if it's fool proof. You would need to put a checkvalve on the return and still not sure if those things are 100% perfect. I've heard stories that those break. That could possibly drain your entire tank. Actually it will drain your entire tank. Might be better if you put the spray bar...

My tank has 40x over so I would say highflow. Don't aim a power head at it but make sure the polyps are moving a little.
