Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Probably controversial but here's another thought on return rates.
Having a high turnover isn't always a good thing. Many people are now finding out the virtues of slower turnover (way less then 1x) rates. One really nice thing about slower flow rates is less noise. It's a lot easier to...
Hey, you could still get to 1000g before me depending on how you figure the volume. It also depends on how you count the tanks. In my sig the total system volume includes a couple of small tanks used for growout and/or displays that aren't connected to the main system. So while I do have 1000+...
If you think there is any chance it might be your sand bed then siphon it all out while doing a water change. You can always put fresh good sand back in. With an established system it doesn't matter if it's live sand or not you put back in.

PS Curious, have you tested for Nitrates and...
Ed, he's specifically looking for aquacultured rock which they don't have.
lotekfish, if you have DIY rock then why not make another batch and just seed it with a good piece or two of Fiji and Caribbean rock for coralline algae growth? Or alternately pick up some dry rock and seed it yourself...
Man I'd love to have a skimmer like that but 4K is a lot of money. Of course it's only 1/4 the price of a Deltec in the same size ballpark.
Hmm, I feel a summer DIY project coming on. :)
I wonder which works best for the money, something like this ETSS or a Deltec AP2602 which is rated at...
katlongo, I know what I have but I don't know half of them by name yet. I have to refer back to the original pics I have of each of them to figure out which is which. I had them all nice and organized by row/column but mister Mag 7 pump helped rearrange the tank. :(
pnoyreefer, Ed has seen most...
Burglar Alert, Burglar Alert!
Might not be the best place to mention specific days you won't be around especially when you post your address. :)

PS You never know who is reading these forums so I'd delete that message if I were you. Nothing like an invitation you know?!?!

If the every other day sponge cleaning isn't bothering you leave them in the system as they are one of the best nutrient export methods there is. If you clean them every couple of days you are removing the organics before they have a chance to break down.
The Cheato won't hurt anything even if...
lotekfish,
Welcome and glad to you see you posting on the board.
I've looked high and low for any NJ or Phily area lfs that carry it and was never able to find it locally.
I don't know how much of a hurry you are in but I've got a couple hundred pounds of aquacultured rock currently curring...
I got thinking about my setup and decided to add more water volume and move stuff around again to give me more prop and/or display tank space. Instead of using a 125 tank as a refugium (present setup) I made a trip to Agway and picked up a 150 gallon Rubbermaid stock tank.
I'll use the...
I guess I'd ask what you're trying to accomplish with a light change (besides old bulbs)?
Are you trying to improve coral growth? Do you want a more blue look in the tank? More yellow look, etc.
It's hard to recommend bulbs IMHO unless you know what the person is trying to accomplish. But I...
Nick, I don't need anything in return. I've got litterally a half ton of sand so sparing a few pounds is no big deal.
Just bring a big bucket to lug the sand home in. I replied earlier on my cell phone but now that I'm back I just looked at the eBay listing and noticed it had Cheato in the eBay...
I don't think it really makes a difference unless you want to use the tank to double as a DSB which wouldn't be the case for you with only 10" total height. Short of using the space for a DSB then it really just depends on what you like visually and how much flow you want to run in the tank.
A...
