Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I usually take a more holistic approach to these type of problems. There are many factors that can contribute to this problem, although one may be the overriding factor, you should address each one of them to insure that you have solved this problem. The use of "red slime removers" will...
I'm in Mt. Laurel, you're welcome to bring a sample here for testing/comparison. Are you using a 35ppt calibration solution? If you're using RO water, it may not be accurate a 35ppt, you should use a solution that will calibrate at the level of the sample you intend to test.
That's about a SG of 1.020. Since NSW is 1.024-1.026, I'd raise it and use the calibrated refractometer to measure it with. Keep in mind that along with a higher SG you will also get more Ca, Mg and Alk, so less dosing would be required.

Low pH this time of year, with the house all closed up, is most often due to elevated levels of CO2 in the household atmosphere. At 7.8, I wouldn't worry about it, as long as your other param's are OK. I would stop using the buffer, since it is most likely raising your alk too.
You might want to check the procedure, the test reagent 'A' has be be mixed between each of the five drops, it's a bit of a PITA, but if you don't do it that way, your going to get bad readings.
Here's a demo, if you haven't seen it:
