Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Do you plan to build this yourself? Probably need a lot of practice before doing it for real.
If you get the right sponge you probably don't need to maintain it for years. I would have the return on one side of the wall producing a circular flow in the tank. You need to address flow problems...
Mark - very interesting. A world of possibilities.
First for the tank setup. Most of the freshwater setups are horrendous. Wires all over the place. Multiple tubes in the tank. To avoid this you can build an all in one tank. It's super easy. Use a 4" sponge as a wall (I have the sponge you need...
How low is your ph? Some people bring in outside air to feed the skimmer. Ph is just a function of alkalinity and co2 level. Open the window to let some fresh air in also helps.
Yes I tested it out works great. Both skimmer and pump went to good home. Still have the tanks. I can bring to meeting if anyone is interested. I already have a lot of pipette.
Looking forward to this. I am almost positive I can make this. I have golden clove coral looking to trade for the green kind. Also looking to trade for interesting stuff.
Melanarus wrasse is very cool and peaceful. Some of the smaller blennies. There are many different kinds. Trops has ORA yellow striped goby that I have been thinking about since I saw them at macna.
I would point the powerhead or return to the surface a little to add some surface movement. A little film floating around is ok but the film should not stuck in one side.
I see. I would just buy the OEM piece so as not to ruin the look. But why do you need it? There are two Redsea tanks in Trops and I don't remember seeing this one any one of them.
Marcus - you can shop around ebay might be able to get a cheaper version. Also if you want to DIY I have acrylic sheet you're welcome to come get some. I even have the blade to cut it but my table saw is not good enough. You do not need the teeth but you do need some screen to prevent fish or...
If you have a fairly new tank that does not consume a lot of alk and calc you may find its hard to get the levels down to NSW levels with IO. You can use a salt that mix to NSW levels then switch to the cheaper IO salts. I had this problem when I first setup the tank.
Some updates. She (I think she is a female) now eats flakes. Her mouth is very small but she seems to have learned how to deal with the larger flakes. When I say larger it is still crashed maybe 1/8". She kind of picking the right sized ones to eat but she attack food quite aggressively. She...
