Afraid to do large scale water changes?

When you have access to reef water it sure is easy to promote this. In the majority of cases this is really not fesible.

    Odd delivery

Actually the "2-part" actually refers to calcium and alkalinity. Mag is actually the third think you dose in the 2part system. But it's used much less.

    Frag Tank Lighting?

If its gonna be close you could probably get away with four but its only gonna cover roughly 10" of the 18" width. Just carefully acclimate. Most of my SPS is within 12" of the waterline under an 8 bulb and seems to be doing great at that spot. Maybe someone else could chime in as well.

    Frag Tank Lighting?

Great tank mike. I would start at 6 bulbs. It's shallow but I think in the end you'll regret getting a 4x fixture. If inn not mistaken there is someone here selling a 6x Tek elite fixture.

    Using old substrate

If you can get out to Hidden Reef they have sand pretty cheap as compared to other stores. If I remember correctly I picked up the 20Lb bag of Fiji Pink Live sand for $21. They also have options for Non-Live sand as well and bit cheaper.

Light reccomendations for 90 gallon fowler

CoraLife and Deep Blue are two different companies with two different lights. If you had problems with the fuge light (Coralife), and are now having problems with a Solar Extreme(Deep Blue) don't hold them against each other. But a 4 bulb T5 would be perfect for a FOWLR. There are any number...

the great ...err, uh... sock debate

When I set up the tank i did use them but quickly changed that after getting lazy changing them. I don't see a difference in the sump either. My drain/skimmer section has a ton of flow in it between the main drain, bio reactor and the drain from the frag tank. This seems to keep stuff in...

    Biopellet Reactor Help

Id like to hear Mike's response here too, but I've started with WM EcoBak and feel like its doing a good job. I made my decision based on many peoples input here and after reading the ecobak thread on 3reef. To be honest though I couldn't begin to understand the differences that John Warner...

    Biopellet Reactor Help

I have dosed AV fuel in the past but accidently left it out of the fridge so I tossed it. I now have the Warner Marine Amino's but rarely use it. I never really had a grasp on how to dose, with or w/o snow, how often, ect

    Biopellet Reactor Help

NP. Good luck. It wont happen in the beginning but keep an eye on your coral colors as you get closer to the full dose and don't be surprised if you find your self feeding more often. I notice if I start feeding a little less then some of my colors go off a bit. So I increase and they come back...

    Biopellet Reactor Help

My recommended came directly from John Warner. I was having a conversation with him on 3reef and went with his recommendation of 500ml of EcoBak. Though I only added the final 1/4 after a couple of months.

    Biopellet Reactor Help

Jim basically said it all. In my system of very similar volume I started with 1/4 of the total and added a 1/4 at a time every 2-3 weeks. I took GFO off but left GAC on. I just recently put GFO back online.
