Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
By definition the aquarium is still considered a live load by code. It was never considered in the dead load of the house when it was built.
I do know some structural engineers if you would like someone to look at it, not sure they would visit for free though. There are lots of ways you can...
More new stuff! Apparently I have a few Stomatella snails....I say a few because I can only count the ones I see. For whatever reason I originally thought they were sponges....haha
I never looked into trying to zoning the Nest's. But if you could create a separate zone you should be able to use the Apex or other controller as your thermostat and have it kick the ac/heat on or off that way. Only thing is the BOB is only good for 5V? Not sure on that but most thermostats are...
I use (2) MP10's on battery backup which at 30% they lasted ~3 days during Sandy. I personally just prefer to have GFCI around water, I have seen enough accidents to not want to play with fire. Also now with the popularity of dc pumps, we are not just considering ac anymore.
Latest updates....
I took my GFO offline as I got my phosphates under control and decided to bio-pellets. Bio-pellets have been tumbling for about a month and a week now. Nitrates are about 10ppm, we will see if they come down more or stay idle. Phosphates I have not tested with the pellets...
First I would check all your plugs/power strips and the like, then all submersible pumps and heaters.
Not sure I would ever run a tank without a GFCI receptacle.
Ground probes are a good idea when GFCI protection is used, but without GFCI protection it is a bad idea unless you can do a...
If I did not have an external drain probably every 3-4 days. I always clean the neck and cup at least once a week and pump impellor and tubing every other week.
Not just calcification you need to worry about but metabolic rates as well, no?
Of course a higher temp invites lots of not so fun things like nuisance algae.
Before I changed to LED's I was running 82 with no chiller or fans and was loosing about a half gallon to a gallon a day. Dropping my temp 2 degrees about halved my evap, but I do notice corals not growing as fast.
I agree that they are beneficial, and I don't go hunting them down when I do my tank maintenance. I want to know what they are eating to multiply like they do.
Is anyone wants some your more than welcome, I regularly get them every week when I do water changes. I just feel like there is an excessive amount of them in my tank. I get at least 1 of these a day swirling around in the water column.
Thanks for the read Red.
So apparently I have these guys and not sure what they came in on. These multiply fast as all hell. Aside from starving the tank how are these kept in check?
