Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I was going to suggest taking it apart as well. Unfortunately I only know how to do that with a mag drive. There should be screws attaching the front of the impeller housing to the body though. No?
LOL. I think everything you want is always at the other end of the earth. I'm looking at Merv's corals thinking "Hmm... wonder when I'll get down that way". I look at those fish that Javis is selling or frags Pnoy is selling and think "Oh Man ... too far north!".
The beauty (strength in numbers...
Steve! Thank you for your sooo generous offer! Hopefully someone can bring it down for me if you're not going to make it (crosses fingers). Hopefully you make it, but I haven't heard about a newborn yet...
Ok, who's got what frags to bring to the meeting? I thought it would be good to start one thread where we could keep track of who was bringing what for sale/trade.
I'm specifically looking for an Undata (lost mine in the MACNA crash).
I could frag my efflo (there are a couple of 50c size...
10 (depending on the brand/par) are better for growth, 14s better for color. The ultimate are the 6500s but only Merv can tolerate that much yellow over his tank ;D
The 10k spectrum is supposed to be better for growth (but we don't like the color of it) so we use that when we're typically not home. Then around the time we're arriving home from work we switch the tank over to the more appealing to us 14k spectrum, which is better for color.
As for the "late...
With the 550g system we have plenty of space in the sump for overflow (about 50g of which we might use 20g). But with the 65 in our bedroom we use siphon holes that we keep cleaned out and then we keep the returns close to the surface so that they break siphon shortly after the water volume...
You could try that to start but at the first sight of lightening drop 2 more hours per day from the schedule (so if you're at 6 drop back to 4 etc). Not sure if one week is enough time to acclimate to the longer duration, especially since the intensity during the those 6 hours would be...
Well higher is better (to a point, obviously). It helps the corals calcify more easily. But you'd need to actually change something to get there. It seemed that you were looking for advice on how to raise it, hence the suggestions (plants, external air source to the skimmer, etc).
If you were...
Too low and the corals will struggle to build a skeletin. To the point where it may actually dissolve under the flesh rather than build. It could be a problem. Where is that problem? I'm not sure. I'd prefer my PH up around 8.2, but it rarely is. Typically closer to 8. I've thought about...
In with their tanks as in "in the ROOM with their tanks". Not IN their tanks. :) Sorry. That should have been clearer.
You're allergic to PLANTS?! All of them!? Oh my!
Not a mangrove. A broad leafy plant in the room. Something like a peace lily or cast iron plant or chinese evergreen. Something with a lot of big green leaves.
I wouldn't bother trying to raise the PH through raising Alk, especially if your alk is already up over 10. You'll need to get the PH up naturally in that case. Who has plants in with their tanks? I wonder if that would help with the CO2...
