    Custom hood help/ideas

The front of my canopy lifts up (like a door, but swinging upwards). It is on a hinge and has lock bars on the sides that allow it to hold open when I need to be in there. It is a beautifully simple yet effective design and very well executed (thank you to the builder :) ). I should be able to...

Need to borrow a Hang on Skimmer in Central NJ

Changing water (while a waste of money if you're not pulling it from somewhere else in your system) would probably be easier and more efficient than dealing with a HOB skimmer.

    Ozone Use?

What kind of skimmer do you have? Not all of them are able to handle ozone. We have an MRC and it is ok, but the ozone port they gave us with the unit melted! We had to replace the fitting with an ozone safe fitting (why they would send it with a fitting not fit for ozone when that was the...

    Conversion to 180g

I've got a piece of cap that I brought up from downstairs that doesn't look so good. I'm going to shorten the light cycle a bit and see if it doesn't perk up again. Otherwise everything looks pretty good.

    Sulfur Denitrator: Who's running one?

Here's the picture of ours up and running: This was the first time we set it up. Since then Carlo's suggested less of the sulfer media, so we're trying it that way now. I can't comment on how the change performs because it is just starting to cycle again. We had our aqualifter quit on us...

    Conversion to 180g

Thanks for all the positive comments! If the process weren't so painful, John may have already put it back the way it was, lol. When all was said and done, I said if you don't like it, we can always do this again in a few months and put it back! For now, I don't mind the change of scenery. Now...

    Conversion to 180g

Well the ol' rock rubble wall had worn me out and I was ready for a change. We fell in love with Marco Rock at the swap and committed at that time to replace all of our rock with it. We spent about 8 weeks curing the rock and then slowly added it to our system, where it has been for another...

    BobCReef's 120 gal Re-birth

Those fans are SOOOOOO loud. The PC fans that were in our hood before were much quieter. With 1200gph, the 2 standard overflows would drain enough without adding would be return lines as drains as well, unless you had another goal in mind. Any pictures to go along with the process? How did the...

There are PAR tests on Sanjay's lighting sight where you can input your bulb and ballast and see what the PAR output is between the two. http://www.reeflightinginfo.arvixe.com/

    BobCReef's 120 gal Re-birth

That should make the total somewhere around 1800gph! Whoah! I'd go 2" on the drain line (better safe than sorry). As for the melting end caps there were end caps that were being sold for a while that had a tendancy to melt. I think the ones they make now are less likely to do that, but the fans...

    TDS ?

Aaron, did you test in a plastic cup or glass? To get a truly accurate reading you need to test in glass, straight from the RO/DI tap. If you're RO/DI is testing .6 you don't have to worry. It would probably test out at zero on any other tester.
