If it is a o2 problem try adding a air stone and see if it helps or if anything changes ??? other than that try adding bio spira and garlic to their food, It wont hurt to try.
I agree with Mike, my clowns are fine in a 80 gal with a vortech and 3 tunze 6055's and they handle the current just fine.
Phyl,
I see now, I always assumed if you got a ammo reading and the fish where breathing heavy it was to to the ammo. Good to know there could also be another reason.
Curious, how/would o2 make ammo and nitrites rise? I'm wondering this because he didn't get a reading till he added a stronger power head which tells me that there is still decaying stuff inside the rock.
Reefer in a 30 gal the nano's are definitely not enough flow, I would add the 1's or even...
Get a bag of bio spira that will take care of the ammo, you should have 0 ammo and 0 nitrites. Try some garlic on the food, it may help intice them to eat. It could have been the rock wasn't fully cured. Good luck, hope they pull through
The first one is a 150 watt and the second is a 250 watt, the ends on HQI bulbs are differant for the wattage. that's why you can't upgrade a HQI fixture from a 150 to a 250 watt by just changing the ballast. the sockets would also need to be changed.
Yup, when all glass/oceanic were bought by central pet, marineland bought perfecto ::) it seems all the company's are merging now :-\ Central is the biggest, they own AGA/Oceanic, Kent, coralife and quite a few other big company's now.
Did you guy's see the new MONTEREY series tanks.... they are all 36" wide and available with standard or Starphire Glass (for more money :'( ). I want the new 300 gal 72X36 Man they are SWEET!!!
The bulb layout I suggested will give the tank a whitish-blue look, and yes mostly 6000-10K can make corals appear brown if there isn't enough bulbs for color like 14K-20k or supplement lighting like actinic's
6000K-10000K has a yellowish color, good for growth but not color. 12k-20K gives corals beter color but once you get to 20k the growth slows down (a lot)
I know a couple of people who run the asm mini on a 75 gal and they love it, I'd recommend going with a bigger skimmer if you plan on upgrading in the near future, otherwise it will be fine. As for the turbofloater they come with a ocean runner pump (unless something changed that I wasn't aware...
If it's for a 55 and you need a HOB skimmer I'd go with the turbo multi 1000 unless you like the coralife one in that case I'd use the 125 and NOT the 65, they are both decent skimmers. I don't know enough about the octopus hang on skimmers other than they look a lot like the CPR backpack...
Here's a link with some info on flatworms http://melevsreef.com/id/flatworm.html
According to melev white flatworms are ok, red ones become a problem when they start multiplying to plague numbers then start to die off (they multiply via light) The worst is acro eating ones. I've never heard of...
