    Clowns ready to spawn???

I thought the eyes changed at day 3. Is it really day 6? Glad you found the info. You really do have to get the timing down though. That takes some practice. I never did get it down before mine stopped spawning (or started hiding it better). I swear I have eggs right now, I just can't see them...

Anyone has Hydor Koralia in the back of the tank?

There was a design flaw that was corrected by the recall. There were bad batches that have been identified. Unlikely you'd have that problem again (unless you ended up with yet another pump from a batch that should have been returned to the manufacturer). You should at the very least get your...

    Clowns ready to spawn???

The first thing you need to do is take a deep breath and realize that it is inevitable. Did you see the other thread I responded to about clownfish breeding? Very likely you'll miss your first 3 clutches while you figure out the cycle. After that it is tricky, but can be done. You just have to...

    Clowns ready to spawn???

There are eggs there that you can't see. That is typical "watch the nest behavior"!

Coloring up SPS (was: Too Much Light??)

I use one of those food grade 55g white drums that we got from Rascilnakov back in the day. I have 3 of them. One for my RO/DI (that feeds my system via my Kalk reactor) and two that we use for water change water. I wonder if Hef ever sold his.

Coloring up SPS (was: Too Much Light??)

We did a massive water change early this year (95% roughly) and the following weeks the corals looked INCREDIBLE. They changed colors almost immediately. I haven't been able to have that same effect via nutrient reduction, so that leads me to wonder if the color change I saw didn't have more to...

Are you running phosban or the like? What's your PO4 at? We've started running GFH (club GB stuff) recently and have notices an great increase in our coral health (not color yet). I don't know what it was before but our PO4 is down to .07 (Hanna), and I'm still working on bringng it even lower...

Coloring up SPS (was: Too Much Light??)

And your NO3/PO4 as close to zero as practical? Heavy/light fish load? Heavy/light feeding? With what? Sometimes it isn't as much the light as the other factors involved. How are the corals DIRECTLY under the lights? If you saw GREAT colors under the bulbs and not as much color on the fringes of...

Coloring up SPS (was: Too Much Light??)

Do you feel your MH give you good coverage left to right? Or do you feel like you have a "dark spot" in the middle or the edges? Is there something in particular you feel like you're missing without the addition of the 3rd light? What is your thinking behind adding it? A MH bulb throws ROUGHLY...

Magnesium. I'd check that first. They used to be my "canary in a coal mine" for that. I don't keep them in my display anymore so I watch the frogspawn now.

    Skimming and Skimmer maintenance

When I clean mine (roughly once a week) I clean it all the way down. I have thought about trying to just "wipe it down" so as to leave that skim-coat on the sides of the riser, but I always end up washing it clean. Our skimmate is generally on the tea-side rather than thick coffee/gummy. Not...
