Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I dip LPS and softies in either coral rx or revive. I also dip zoas/palys in peroxide on occasion. For SPS I usually use the Bayer unless it's a sensitive species.
Two different places and owners. The one in the story is tropicorium the store here in jersey is tropaquarium. No ties to each other that I am aware of
I would clean the sponge every few days And change your carbon about once a month. It's perfectly normal for the sand to be pushed around a bit by the flow coming from the power heads. Have you by any chance tested the water you are buying?
I don't think you need to scrap the idea. I would set up your rodi like in the thread I linked if it turns out you have high co2. I would plumb the rodi after the water treatment equipment you have already installed. With a little planning you should be able to work it out.
I would suggest rinsing the sponge every few days. If you want take it out and just use the filter to run carbon and gfo. I personally would keep it and just make sure I kept it cleaned every few days. Also check inside the filter itself and see if there is any trapped debris in it. If...
Reason I asked is because the Red Sea kits I used to have had a high and a low reading. To get the high reading tank water would be diluted with rodi water prior to the test. I don't think the API kit is this way though. Have you cleaned the sponge at all?
Just saw you were from Jackson, I grew up there and my parents still live there. Let me know if you need any help with anything I usually go up there every 2 weeks or so.
Lol any excuse for new equipment is a good one in my book. With a return pump you want to shoot towards about a 5-10x turn over rate. So for a 180 anywhere from 900-1800 gph depending on what your overflows can handle. You want to has the majority of your flow in the tank to come from...
I would say so. If that pump is a barracuda it will be pushing 3100 gph at 12' of head. I would try to be more around 1800gph at the tank at most. I recently used a blueline 70 on a 210 that was between 10'-12' feet of head and I had to dial it back a bit with a ball valve.
That reeflow pump should be more than sufficient for a tank that size. I would say too big. You can look into the diablos or something like a blueline 55 or blueline 70.
