The ones I used are ceramic magnets. They are made from iron oxide in a ceramic composite. No copper (that I know of) but still, iron isn't the best thing for a reef tank either. Paul B might disagree with that, but he's not one to agree with all the popular beliefs.

John, how many coats did you put on your magnets? I put around 4-5 coats on mine and I wasn't satisfied until it looked really sealed on mine.
