I have a 12 gallon JBJ nano stock with no upgrades on it at all. Have been running it for about 5 months. You can try the skimmer, most nano skimmer are pretty poor in performance. They have the sapphire one on nanocustoms.com that is apparently pretty good. I used the sponges and carbon that...

I'ld skip the snowflake if I were you. About a year ago an unscrupulous LFS sold my fiancee and I a 6" snowflake. He was really cute at the time, he looked like a little spotted pencil, but within 3 months he went from 6" to 12". We couldn't keep anything else in the tank with him, and he...
Welcome back to the hobby. Nanos can be very very fun and a good stepping stone up to a bigger tank.
1. You can get some zoanthind polyps which are generally considered "starter corals". They don't require a high light output and you can find some absolutely beautiful colors out there. Also...
I'm the fiancee of MNAT, congrats on the new tank. The red coraline on your LR looks nice. Good luck with the live coral- you might want to consider asking a reefer friend to foster it for a few weeks/months if you want to keep it. Generally, when cycling a new tank, nitrates, nitrates and...
Here is my fiancee 20 gallon. We are currently using it as somewhat as a holding tank before the 30 gets fully setup.
a bit blurry, but he wouldn't sit in his little chair
Thank you guys for the responses. We were thinking about getting a pistol shrimp/goby combo from them because I cannot find them in the local LFS. We will have to think about this.
Has anyone ordered from liveaquaria.com? They are the fish wing of Drsfosterandsmith.com. They have great fish in the WYSIWYG section but not sure if I should order from them.
I have some zoas on a disc and they will grow just fine on there. My one disc is sitting on top of a piece of liverock and they are just about to make the jump over to the liverock. I am looking foward to have them covering the liverock but it does take time.
The Niger Trigger is considered more of a reef safe trigger along with the blue chin. The trick seems to keep them well fed to discourage the behavior of nipping because once they learn bad habits it is down hill.
Thank you all for the ID, since I have no algae eating fish in there I will just let it grow out. It adds some nice color to the tank and no one has touched it yet.
