Also how do you have it set up? Do you have the GFO in the first chamber and the carbon in the last? Also is the GFO tumbling and the carbon not? To answer your question you don't want to run it without the sponges cause the media will not remain in the chambers then.

I been running their dual reactor for over a year now with no issues.

You are correct that they should be fine near each other. I only have a frogspawn so I have not done too much research on touches and hammers yet but I knew they do sting so I just assumed to keep a space between them.

my understanding both hammers and torches will sting other corals near by. I personally have no experience but that it my understanding.

I have a JBJ and a tom lift pump both I got off Amazon for a fair price. I use a 5gal Lowes bucket to hold my RO water

@trio91 what ratio are you using? I don't seem to get streaks with the ratio my wife uses

I use a water/white vinegar mixture. Not so the ratio (the wife makes it for cleaning other things). It does a good job on cleaning the glass and I seen no ill affect with my open top tank.
