I'd dip it and keep it in low light low flow and see what happens. You said it started the decline after a couple of days? It might just not be taking to your tank?
You can get aquarium sealant from petco. Or GE silicone 1 from home depot. If you get the GE make sure it does not have the anti mold stuff in it. You can't use anything anti mold or bacteria just make sure it doesn't say anything on the tube
