Don't really think it will help. I think it is more a nutrient issue then a light one. Not like it needs high light so you are always going to have some spilloff. I know if I tried it I would break my light and electrocute myself. ;D

I have 8x54 T5 over a 120 I would say about 8 inches above the water. You don't lose a lot of par going through air. :)

It is easier on fish to drop the salinaty then raise it. You will find that even if you use RO water and 10% water changes daily it will take a couple days. This is what I do when I drop the salinity in my QT. From 1.023 1.009 takes about a week. Just watch the salinity.

I think your gate valve or whatever you have to adjust it helps to determine how high you need the water or don't. I have found that if you have the water too high you just skim way to much water. Obviously if it is too low you just end up with crud in the neck of the skimmer.

You have to leave the DT without fish for at least 6 weeks(?) to break the life cycle even if you treat the fish in a QT tank.

I would take into account your possible upgrade and go with a 6 bulb fixture, not sure an 8 will fit. :) I have T5 on my reef and 55G panted tank, 8X54 and 2X54. For I think 6x54 on a 90 would be good, might be a little wide on a 55 but might as well go for it. Can add some LED for shimmer if...
