Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Yes you can overskim, but that octopus wouldn't on a 16 imo. Something to be prepared for is it's length. The model you're looking at is not small at 13".
Here is a picture of the bh100f next to a remora...
Edit: and like JRWOHLER said... you don't need to run a skimmer. I only recently picked...
If you are able, a DIY led setup would be an excellent option. A 70W MH or a 24" T5HO setup would be 2a and 2b.
Now that I have gotten ahead of myself. :) What are you planning on keeping?
Time and patience, but if you have an itch for more, then scratch the spots of coralline you have in your tank already. It'll send spores throughout to populate quicker.
Red sea is considered inaccurate. API is cheap and effective. Salifert, Lamotte and Elos are all quality kits.
For purposes I use API for all of the basics Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, and pH. Hagen for Alk and Ca with Salifert for Mg.
The only way I could see the MH causing this is if the UV shield was broken or not providing adequate coverage. Oh and heat, but on a 180... I'm leaning towards the sea hare as well.
I have more than enough Kenya Tree already. (It looked small and harmless attached to the frogspawn at the time) lol
Edit:
This thread just scared me about drilling... I don't know if the back of the tank is tempered or not. It has a tempered glass sticker on the bottom of the tank. Thoughts? ? ?
It's funny that you keep posting what I'm thinking. :P
For flow I am leaning towards the 700 overflow with a Quiet One 4400 pump for the return. I also am thinking about having the return split to each corner with locline. Additional flow would come from a pair of Koralia 2/3/4s.
Would it be possible to get a picture?
Have you tried a freshwater or iodine dip? Sometimes it'll take a week or two for them to adjust to the new system.
iirc the mag pumps won't really pressurize an RO line.
The thing that you will notice with a low PSI is that your water output will drop, but will otherwise be good-to-go. If it is a concern for you you could look into a booster pump like...
It's a four bulb current nova fixture. It's major detractor is that it has a parabolic reflector instead of individual ones. >.< I have four extra bulbs too so I could do a staggered 8 bulb retrofit (and build a canopy to fit it in) down the road.
