Nobody said anything negative about your tank. It seemed to me like Nikki was actually interested in your tank and was just asking to see pictures of it. That is why she asked you to start a thread describing your set up. A 350 gallon anemone tank is definitely worth showing off.
All you had...
He means 5x5 inch squares of 3/4" thick plywood for under the legs.
Put some weight on the bottom shelf where your sump will go and see if it bends or not. Worse case is you will have to put some braces, such as pieces of 2x4, under the shelf to help support the sump's weight.
Got my cert June of 08 along with my oldest son, so not that long. Youngest son and my g/f just got their certs in Nov. All 4 of us are taking this course together.
Nitrox is planned for this year also.
My goals for this year:
1) AOW
2) Break the 100' depth
3) Nitrox
4) Dive as much as...
Yeah 6 is about normal for that switch. I started with 26# beginning of last year and was down to 22 by the time the weather turned nasty. I'm hoping to be able to drop another 1-2# this year.
Tell Danielle you're taking her someplace special, but it's a surprise. lol I'm lucky, when I...
Yeah the transpac isn't much more than a soft plate with shoulder straps. Lots of movement and feels good in the water. One day I'll try out a plate set up. I've had a set of 100's on before, but not in the water, they were heavy but not overly heavy. Plus it's a lot less weight on a belt. Right...
I have 3 ponies, still need to get one more.
I thought about going BP/W but like the Transpac so will stick with it for now.
My next purchase will probably be a 100# lift bag and maybe Miflex hose for my regs.
I am leaning more towards a set of HP 100's instead of the 120's thanks to Arin...
Where to start? lol
BC is a DR Transpac with rec wing, wetsuit is a Bare 5/4 Velocity with a 5mm hooded vest for cooler waters. Primary reg set up is a Genesis GS 2000 with a TUSA DC Hunter computer console, pony set up is a Genesis Yukon with a DR SPG on a necklace. For lighting I use a...
I've never used that stuff so can't say for sure. I would think that as long as you have an air space between the glass and the background you will get reflection.
It's not the colour, it's the fact that the paint stops the reflection from taking place. Commercial film type tank backgrounds don't effect the lighting as they leave and airspace between the glass and the background which is where the reflection takes place.
I might be wrong, but most sliding doors can be removed from the track just by lifting them up and popping the bottom of the door out and lowering it out of the top track. The frames and tracks are usually installed separately of the door itself.
Actually there was a presentation at MACNA in Atlanta a couple years ago about how painting the back glass of a tank drastically reduces the amount usable light in the tank. The paint does not allow the light to reflect off the back of the tank but rather absorbs it.
James Fatheree was the...
Glass tanks are made to have the edges support the weight of the tank not the bottom glass. Having the bottom glass resting on anything can cause stress points thus causing the glass to fail. Putting plywood under the tank will not do anything for the weight because the plastic trim is what...
Yes the major difference is most of their tanks are configured for DIN regs. Not a bad choice as the newer DIN valves have the insert so you can convert them to a yoke fitting. They also make a converter to switch your DIN regs to a yoke so you can use them in areas where DIN tanks aren't common...
I don't know who told you this, but there are only 2 types of fittings for SCUBA tanks DIN and Yoke. Both are used and recognized all over the world. I have friends that take their regs to Europe and dive there with no issues.
Congrats on your certification. It truly is a fascinating sport.
