Billyr98's Real Upgrade! 450g Starphire Custom Reef Tank!

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee! How exciting!! Sadly... One of us needs to be home with the kids. I suppose that since, between John and I, I'd lose in the "Tank Throw" competition, that person will be me. I would so love to be there! Take lots of pictures and be very very careful!

    Wrasse in Overflow........

my pipe comes out easily since it isn't glued in there. Is your drain pipe glued in?

    Wrasse in Overflow........

Pull the stand pipe? A tiny net and a pinch of food? I know this happened to Hef and he finally figured out how to get the fish out... but I don't remember how he did it. Persistance, I think.

    Xenia melting, cut it

Sounds like a good plan. How does the stuff still on the rock look? Firm? or mushy?

    RO/DI

Where are those nerd goggles when you need 'em!? LOL. Thanks for the explanation, Mladen. Not sure that I'd go so far to research it myself, but it it interesting to gain a little insight into the process.

My Xenia, paly and GSP ain't looking right.

That number you posted doesn't look like an alk number (should be 2-8 or 7-16 depending on if you're using meq/l or dkh). 250-500 are typical Ca numbers. It would help to know what your alk is. All ph buffers will adjust your alk. If anything, adding calcium with no regard to your alk will drive...

    Aquahub ATO good idea?

We swear by the www.autotopoff.com ATOs. Just no experience with the brand you posted about. And rather than sound like a sales person for them... We also use our AC to limit the frequency and duration that the pump is able to turn on over the course of the day. We set the AC to turn on the...

    Xenia melting, cut it

Start testing the nitrate cycle in the bucket. If it smells then it is a good thing you pulled the rock out of the tank. You might want to scrub the rest of the foot off so you can get your rock back into your tank. I understand your fear! Cut way back on feeding and increase your water change...

    white patch on my toadstool

Ya know... as I think about it, my toadstool got white patches on it like that when it started fragging itself. If that flesh is still firm leave it be. Can you see points elogating down from the fingers beyond the white (on the bottom) where it is trying to plant those fingers as it frags...

    help moving tank on Friday

Re: tank move What day are you planning on moving it, Rev? John and I were just thinking about you yesterday, talking about how we hadn't seen you since you bought the house! Hope everything is going well for you. I bet you're looking forward to having the tank back, huh?

    white patch on my toadstool

I would cut off at least one of the healthy sections of that toadstool to save it. I'm not sure it's going to survive that white patch.

    July Meeting frags..

Tonight after 7 would be fine. You should call before you come though just to make sure that we didn't get diverted (we have family in town, so some things are out of our control)!

July 2007 Meeting; Thanks And Recap

Stan & Kristen, thanks again for opening your home to the club. Your home is amazing and your property is like a little piece of heaven. So serene and peaceful. We had a great time (adults and children alike). Stan, you're a lucky lucky man that all of those kittens found homes and that I...

    Xenia melting, cut it

With a bigger tank I wouldn't think twice about the amount of the foot you have left on there, but with only 12g bad goes real bad quickly. You should know in a couple of days if the rest of the xenia is going to live or die.
