Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
First off, I agree with Jcurry with plumbing to a basement fish room sump/fuge if at all possible. If not, then do yourself a favor and don't buy the typical Marineland standard stand. Sure, they look like they're made for the tank (and they are) but they usually aren't tall enough to...
Bummer, I didn't notice this thread until you were already in Level 2. :sorrow:
Can I still get 1 point credit for what my original thought was on "Who is Arnold?" I thought you were using the multiple movie reference of "I'll be back!" by none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger!
But...
Doesn't look like any Nudi's are on there, so that's good news. The vermetids are a pest, but doubt they would cause the bleaching. I'd keep looking for other issues as the source of the problem.
You did mention / remind me that your tank is in the sun room. I'm wondering if maybe the glass...
Yep, it's typical for people to think a small tank is easier to take care of just because it's smaller. But in reality, it's completely opposite with this hobby. The more water volume you have the easier it is to take care of. This is mostly due to a higher chance of something bad being dilluted...
Another possibility with monti "bleaching" would be monti eating nudibranches. If you can, remove the entire cap from the rock and inspect it out of water.
What you will be looking for are small white or yellowish eggs that will be tucked into the crevices (usually on the bottom side). The...
Paul, it's been a while since I checked this thread. In fact, I don't think I've read it since my last post.
I tend to agree with Mike that you had an Alk spike, but your "knob" coral looks pretty similar to my Hydnophora... which from my experience tends to be pretty aggressive. This isn't my...
I've got a bunch of that also. If anyone near Blackwood (08012) wants any, send me a PM and you can have some for free.
It's a very hearty growing coral, great pink color and moves with the current/flow of your tank.
Sorry to hear this John. I have two stories to share that might make you feel a bit better:
1. Started making RO water and needed something from HD real quick. Figured I had a good 45 mins to an hour before the bucket would overflow. Well, HD didn't have what I needed so I then went to Lowes...
Wow, that's impressive! I used some of the KZ additives (Pohl's Extra, Vitalizer, Amino Acids, and Coral Snow) before without the Zeo rocks and they helped a little but not a lot. I might look into trying the rocks now and getting the additives again because I've seen plenty of great results...
I would offer it if you were closer, but I'm a couple hours away. :(
I agree with Reeflections. Try a LFS first and if you can't get any there then the distilled will be fine. It may not be 0 TDS like your RO would be, but it will be pure enough to not cause any issues with your tank...
I've been trying to get up there for the last 2 years... but something always seems to come up at the times I pick to go.
Take some pics please Ed... and have a great time!
Yea, that was me that suggested to have them at the Swap. I still need to ask them about it... it keeps slipping my mind when I'm up there. And yes, as Steve noted, Arin is a she. ;)
Steve, I might be interested in some Jersey Shore diving. From what I hear, the visibility can be pretty...
My nephews have come up with a really great idea for a phone app and they asked me if I knew anyone who could develop it for them. They've even done all the artwork for the features of the app... they just need help on the programming.
If anyone can help or knows someone who can, please reply...
