Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I don't have an Apex nor the WXM expansion, but I do have a Reef Angel controller with a vortech controller module and just set this up for mine.
Not sure if this will help you at all, but, when I set mine up I had to clear the memory on my MP40 controller before setting it up as a slave (which...
Yea, this sort of thing happens every so often and it's good to spread the word so that people continue to be safe when maintaining their tanks.
Those gloves the duijver linked seem to be a good choice, might order a pair of those myself. Everyone should use gloves when handling corals, at...
I'm in for Friday night too. I've been to the back entrance with Mike before so I know where to go. Yea we may need to get creative on finding a place to park. :)

Mike, why don't you catch the Harlie and swap tanks with the linkia so the harlie can clean out the asterinas?
ThatGuy, you're welcome. I recommend reading that entire website as there are some common hitchhikers that everyone asks about eventually.
Not to get too technical, but these are actually "asterina" starfish, not astreas. Astreas are a type of snail, which is an entirely different creature.
Go Here and scroll down to about mid-page and you will see both critters in the middle of the page.
Might help to identify them correctly...
Asterina's are known to eat corralline algae. They also irritate some corals when grazing on the corralline. Other than that, they're pretty harmless.
They reproduce rapidly so if you want them gone, keep plucking them out and check daily for a week or two after you think you got the last one...
Sounds cool. Glad to hear they have more reef oriented tanks. I didn't even know they were doing this.
I might be heading there Friday night to help with the tank we setup there. Maybe we can take a quick peek and see how it looks.
To reply to your question though Dave, no, NJRC doesn't...
It might be cheaper/easier to just buy some babies. :o
Seriously though Jim, that's a rough patch you went through there. I believe that once they turn male, they can't turn back to female... and having two males in the same tank is not a very good idea.
I'd suggest either selling the male...
Yea, I figured some of them were just in places that I couldn't see in that pic. Would love to see some shots from different angles (and not just to see the frags that I donated... but just to see more). ;)
I'm supposed to pick my son up from school on Friday, but I'll see if I can make other arrangements for that. Let me talk to Tony and Terri (adesimone1) and see if that works.
We'll get back to you ASAP.
Sharon, what's the latest you will be there during the week? I work until 5:00 PM every day, but could be there by 5:30ish.
We had an officer's meeting last night and a few of us were planning on stopping up there to help get the tank back on track. Don (Tazmaniancowboy) will be contacting...
That's a good point Phil. I guess Sharon lost all her other posts during the switch to the new forums. If you're still having these problems Sharon, please post back here if you can't PM.
The lights on that tank are T-5's so LED's isn't the issue. Good thought though.
That's a great concept and great design. But I agree they probably won't make the minimum $$ to get the funding.
If I were looking to DIY some LED's... I'd be interested in that for sure.
I've tried Purple Up (actually got 2 bottles and used them both up). While it did promote some minor growth with the first bottle in the early stages (when my tank had just done cycling) it didn't help all that much after that. I saw no increase at all with the second bottle. As Ryan stated...
