Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Wow! That sounds really high and I suspect that either you messed up the test and/or there's something wrong with your test kit.
I'd suggest taking a few more tests and maybe even bringing some sample water to your lfs to double check it.
If it really is that high, then you should review this...
Sounds like that stuff is working. Do you need to do anything special to rinse that stuff off the rocks before putting them in the tank? I'm guessing those chemicals aren't reef safe?

Haha, yea it does. Although thats not a recent pic and I chopped part of the other side out to make room for other corals. I still have plenty to spare though.
Mine is branching also.

Yep, add phosphate and magnesium to your test regimen.
Since you're in Williamstown, you're fairly close to me (Blackwood). Once you figure out what's causing the issue and get it straightened out, I'll hook you up with a few branches of hammer. Mine does quite well...
Couple questions:
1. How long have you had the hammer?
2. How strong is your water flow going at them?
3. What kind of lights do you have and how old are the bulbs?
4. Where do you live? I can spare some replacements if they don't make it and you're not too far away.

+1 I've been thinking the same thing lately. I don't test as often as I used to, probably because it seems redundant when everything is "OK" almost every time. It's hard to keep that up, but I try to force myself to continue the process. I just have to remind myself that if I slack on the...
Pretty cool project! I agree that the rain water collection and pollution deterrence make it "green" and certainly counter the residuals caused by the materials used. Plus, it will house fish and plants which is a bonus.
It's even better that a few of the teachers are already planning on...
I was thinking the same thing as Russ. Seems to me like you might have mixed up the ins and outs tubing on either the TDS meter or the first di cartridge (or both.)
If you're running water through the di backwards, it could be causing the bad reading.

I agree with Paul. Using a pump (as I suggested) was an option, but not a preferred method. It would need a great deal of fine tuning and constant observation to make sure there's nothing unbalancing the flow between the 3 tanks.
You may be better off just skipping the separate fuge idea...
The overflow from the DT to the 20gal will have to have the same size as (or smaller than) the 1/2" overflow drain in the 20gal or else the flow coming into the fuge won't exit as fast as it's coming in... thereby flooding the fuge. That would make the wife change her mind very quickly...
