    Long Time No See

Hello, again everyone. Life has been busy for quite some time and I don't have nearly enought time to check in here. I started my 29g tank in March and am happy to say my tank is thriving. Its got a base of live sand, almost 20lbs of live rock, one percula, one cleaner shrimp 6 turbo snails, 6...

New & Interesting Things Still Growing

I found my charger for my camera so I can finally ask if anyone has any idea what these two things are (see links below). I'm guessing the green tubes largest is about 2" tall are tubeworms but not to sure about the brown things (larges is aboutt he diameter of a silver dollar)...sponges...

Aipstasia - I will NOT panic

Well for as much time as I sit and stare @ my tank, I just noticed an apistasia. Tomorrow will be the day to start testing out all of the remedies I've found online. First I'llt ry the hot water in a baster -- easiest and least expensive. More to come.

Finally got a pic -- what is this?

Thanks, thanks, thanks and thanks :D That was a 1/2" mark on the ruler. I had to crop the pic to get in under the size limit. I feel bad now because I had just gotten another piece of live rock and dipped in in fw. About 10 of those guys fell out and died -- but my tank has lots more. They're...

    Mini Vacation

Thank you both. I only have a 29 gallon, so i don't havy anything so fancy as a top off system, just me adding a few cups of water every other day or so -- and only because I recently took the glass top off and put the lights on a swing-away mount. I'll put the glass back on for evaporation...

    Another interesting read

Found this while looking to see if the little shrimp-like thing I sometimes see running from the light at night is a mantis or not.... http://www.njscuba.net/biology/aqua_10_gallery_sw.html

    Mini Vacation

Looking for pointers (or just some reassurance) I'm going away Thursday morning and won't be back til late Sunday. I still only have the one clown fish and one cleaner shrimp, and a small xenia. I bought an automatic feeder and have timers for the lights - there are 2 sets so I have a timer for...

tanking pictures of my tank, help please

Alot of digital camera's don't have manual focus, but, if you press just halfway down on the shutter, it will lock the focus what is closest to the lens. That's why tank shots are usually blurry -- the glass of your tank is closest. So... Figure out how far away the subject of your picture is...

    Worms

    Worms

I was going to wait this out, but there's so little activity here, I figured I'd try to jump start a convo.... Mostly when it's dark and sometimes during the day, I see tiny -- hair sized -- black worms crawling around my LR and, if they happen to be there, on my snails' shells. Has anyone...

    Absolutely Fish

I just read an article that might also explain their high prices.... They are only 1 out of 5 aquariums that track how their fish are captured. Here's the link for the article: http://www.csmonitor.com/2005/0113/p14s01-sten.html

    Detritus amongus

The natural cycle of a reef tank is what pulled me in. (Hmm. Makes me wonder if I can put the skimmed out "stuff" into my composter.) I plan to keep things as close to nature as possible -- using a fake sun, fake water movement, fake seawater, and manufactured food in a manufactured enclosure...

    Detritus amongus

While surfing the net to try to identify what kind of animal is producing the fecal matter I find on the sandbed every morning, I came across this article. I found it really intersting and wanted to share.... http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-03/rs/

    New Things to Identify

http://nitro_mznomer.tripod.com/index.htm There's two pictures stuck in there. Kinda blurry tho. For scale, those really blurry little dots next to it are copepods. I still need to read how to manually focus my digi. I'm sure they're juvenile something or others because they were smaller 2...
